FORESHORE PSYCHOLOGY

Therapy to help you navigate life’s ever-changing tides

As each foreshore is unique, so too are the mental health challenges that we experience. Therapy can be flexibly tailored to suit the specific terrain of your life and experiences

Are you feeling…

If you can relate to any of these, or have other experiences that are interfering with living a fulfilling and satisfying life, then you’re in the right place!

Hi! My name is Dr. David Correia and I am a Licensed Psychologist in Washington state. I work with adults who are dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, infertility issues, difficulty managing emotions, and generally feeling “stuck” in ways that are challenging to move on from.

I believe that everyone is already doing their best, so any problems that you’re experiencing are not due to lack of effort. If it was as simple as doing more or trying harder, then you probably wouldn’t be seeking therapy in the first place. There can be lots of factors working against you and it can be difficult to identify what they are and how to tackle them. I’m here to help you navigate all of that, from start to finish. My aim is to help you sort out what has been preventing you from moving forward and explore concrete strategies for living life in the way that you want and deserve.

My Approach

I invite you to come to therapy as you are and I will do the same. I approach therapy as my authentic self and bring warmth, calmness, and curiosity in service of learning about you and how to foster change that you can see and feel.

I utilize a strengths-based approach wherein we identify the strengths that you already have and use them as a starting point for growth. I apply a Cognitive-Behavioral lens to examine the factors that have you feeling stuck and then, in collaboration with you, develop a plan to address these factors. Some plans may involve structured, evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) or Prolonged Exposure therapy (PE) for trauma. Other plans may involve targeted emotion regulation skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) or mindfulness and values-based tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Whatever your needs might be, my goal is to balance structure with flexibility so that we can cultivate the changes that matter to you.
